In another sense, by these terms is intended
the divines of the
former Dispensation, who live in the days of the subsequent Revelations, and
who hold the reins of
religion in their grasp.
If these divines be illumined by the light of the latter Revelation, they
will be acceptable unto God, and will shine with a light everlasting.
Otherwise, they will be declared as darkened, even though to outward seeming they be leaders of men,
inasmuch as belief
and unbelief, guidance
and error, felicity and misery, light and darkness, are all dependent upon
the sanction of Him Who is the Daystar of
Truth. Whosoever among the divines of every age receiveth, in the Day of Reckoning, the
testimony of faith from the Source of true knowledge, he verily becometh the
recipient of learning,
of divine favor, and of the light of true understanding. Otherwise, he is
branded as guilty of folly, denial, blasphemy, and oppression.

Noutro
sentido, com estes termos pretende-se significar os sacerdotes da Dispensação
anterior, que vivem nos dias das Revelações posteriores, e têm nas suas mãos
as rédeas da religião. Se estes sacerdotes estiverem iluminados pela luz da
Revelação anterior, eles serão aceites por Deus, e brilharão com uma luz
eterna [Jo 19:36, 39]. De outro modo, serão considerados obscuros [Rm 1:21],
apesar de exteriormente parecerem chefes de homens, pois a crença e a
descrença, a orientação e o erro, felicidade e miséria, luz e trevas, tudo
depende da sanção d’Aquele que é o Sol da Verdade. Qualquer um entre os
sacerdotes, em todas as eras, que tenha recebido, no Dia do Juízo, o
testemunho de fé da Fonte do verdadeiro conhecimento, tonar-se-á, em verdade,
recipiente de sabedoria, de favor divino e de luz da verdadeira compreensão.
De outro modo, ele será marcado como culpado de loucura, negação, blasfémia e
opressão.
